James Reyes-Picknell is a management consultant and subject matter expert in reliability, maintenance, and asset management for industrial environments. 

  James started his consulting career in 1995 at Coopers & Lybrand, later becoming a Director (Associate Partner) at PwC Consulting / IBM. In 2004, he co-founded Conscious Asset, where he serves as President. 

Recognized public speaker, trainer, consultant, webinar host, and columnist in the fields of reliability, maintenance, and asset management. Best-selling author of Uptime – Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management (2015), Reliability Centered Maintenance – Reengineered (2017), and Paying Your Way (2020).

With over 43 years of experience, James has worked in various industries, including mining, oil and gas, electric and gas utilities, forest products, defense, pharmaceutical, public transit, water and wastewater, and logistics.

Operational Readiness - setting yourself up for success

With only a few exceptions in aerospace and the military, we see capital projects completed and thrown over the fence to operations. In the worst cases, the projects are not even complete and it is up to maintenance to finish off the work. Start ups are often plagued with problems that could have been avoided with a little bit of fore-thought. Start ups tend to be plauged by breakdowns, wrong spares, no spares, rush orders, missing documentation, incomplete documentation and guesswork brought on by a lack of adequate training.
