Robert Jolliffe

President

Rob graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Engineering in the early 90s and became a production engineer with some purchasing, material planning and production scheduling responsibility.

In 1994 he turned from production engineering to IT management at a 100-person manufacturing company where he was introduced to "ERP." Soon after he started consulting for ERP companies. He has worked with over 200 small manufacturing customers running Infor ERP and Microsoft Dynamics. Today he is owner of Sabre Limited - a Business Central partner 100% focused on manufacturing.

He has read “The Goal” at least 4 times, “Lean Thinking” at least 3 times, and has seen Star Wars more times than he can count (Han shot first!). He is an avid collector of music and, using “The Rolling Stone Top 500 Album List” as a guide, has managed to buy 490 of the 500 (the rest are out of print).

LEAN Six/Sigma and Business Central

For many years the concepts of Lean Manufacturing and ERP have been in conflict. Lean manufacturing consultants will tell production teams "ERP is bad" or "ERP is wasteful" and ERP consultants will hear concepts of LEAN and think "that will never work" and "you must use the ERP to do those tasks." In recent years LEAN and Six Sigma (also called Total Quality Management) have merged. LEAN/Six Sigma values data collection, KPI, and analysis.  Areas that are considered critical in production control and optimization include equipment utilization (OEE), Die and Tooling management (SMED) and a variety of other techniques. In this session, Robert will be giving a quick overview of LEAN/Six Sigma techniques, where traditional ERP systems align with those, and how Dynaway helps fill gaps with Business Central.
